The ‘Take Flight’ Mural
Created by Apinya Srikhwanthong and Navasota Team in 2021,
is our gift to Navasota Public Library.
We hope this mural brings you joy and a positive impact as butterflies symbolize change, transformation, and freedom. As it is our first mural in the library we started with Monarch butterflies - the official state insect of Texas, along with other pollinators to spark curiosity about nature. We encourage our children to be bookworms. When our young readers open a book, their imagination will take flight.
Fun Facts;
- The Monarch butterfly has been the official State Insect of Texas since 1995.
- Monarch caterpillars feed exclusively on the leaves of milkweed, the only host plant for this iconic butterfly species. As such, milkweed is critical for the survival of monarchs. Without it, they cannot complete their life cycle, and their populations decline.

The 'Tree of Life'
A reminder for residents to keep growing, stand tall, and be strong through adversity
Created by Apinya Srikhwanthong and Alcott Team in 2022
In 2019, with new funding from the Department of Health Services, the Alcott Center opened 'Fisher Place,' a bridge housing facility located in the south-central area of Los Angeles. Fisher Place houses men with mental health issues who have been redirected from incarceration into the care of the Alcott Center. While living at Fisher Place, residents are provided both mental and traditional health care services and assistance with finding permanent housing. Fisher Place is supported by the generosity of actress/director/mental health advocate Joely Fisher and the Fisher Family.
"I am excited and grateful for the art at Fisher Place. The mural features a Tree of Life which is symbolic of growth, resilience and strength. The art is meant to beautify the blank wall in the outdoor area as well as inspire residents. It symbolizes togetherness and that we are never alone or isolated. We hope that the presence of a tree in the form of a mural would be a reminder for residents to keep growing, stand tall, and be strong through adversity." Apinya Srikhwanthong and Alcott Team
