Apinya Srikhwanthong, a mixed-media artist originally from Thailand, is currently diving into the vibrant art scene of Los Angeles while serving as the Director of Visual Arts for L.A.GOAL, a non-profit organization. Working with artists from all backgrounds, including those with developmental disabilities, brings her immense joy within the L.A.GOAL family. With a belief in the power of art to bring people together, Apinya advocates for community engagement, inclusion, and diversity through her creative work.
Apinya's artistic journey began back home in Thailand, where she participated in an art workshop held at her high school, sparking her passion for creating art. She pursued her undergraduate program in Painting and Drawing at the Poh-Chang Academy of Art in Bangkok, Thailand, and later earned her BFA in Fine Arts, Painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Proficient in traditional mediums such as oil paint, acrylics, and watercolor, Apinya's artwork has been featured in exhibitions across the United States, including Los Angeles, Culver City, San Francisco, Texas, Alaska, and New Jersey, as well as internationally in Thailand and China. Her diverse artistic talent has earned notable recognition, including an Honorable Mention Award for her captivating watercolor painting in Los Angeles. Her works range from intricate paper cutting to expressive acrylics, reflecting her love for mixed-media art. Her recent series, Route 66: Life is an Artful Ride, chronicles the journey from Texas to California, with each piece reflecting the spirit of new beginnings and discovery as she grows as an artist and advocates for art within the community, from her time as an artist in residency in Navasota to her new role in Culver City. Apinya is grateful for the opportunity to spread joy and inspiration through her art and career. Beyond exhibitions, Apinya is involved in community projects like the uplifting Tree of Life Mural with the Alcott Center for Mental Health, where they aim to inspire hope and resilience through art. As an artist and advocate, Apinya's mission is simple: to empower creatives from all walks of life. She believes everyone has the ability to create great art and live a joyful life. |
